Climate Change in a Bottle – An inquiry-based science teaching resource

How can students be engaged effectively to study the phenomenon of Climate Change? This inspiring video, broadcasted on Teaching Channel, shows a lesson held by a 6th grade science teacher from Eastside College Preparatory School based in East Palo Alto, CA.

During the lesson, students design, build, and test models of the greenhouse effect. Firstly, students design four models to represent environmental systems. The teacher clarifies the purpose of each experiment with posing questions and suggesting hypotheses. Then, students build models of environment systems to explore climate change and eventually, they put their models to the test to observe the phenomenon.
