Potatoes, Wheat and Rice - a New Generation of Genetically Modified Plants

In several European countries field experiments with new genetically modified plants will start this year: in Ireland cisgene potatoes resistant to late blight will be cultivated, while in England and Sweden trails will be run on wheat that can repel lice with pheromones and barley that makes more effective use of nitrogen. All the experiments are part of research and development work on a new generation of genetically modified plants.
