‘Humming bird seeks Bromeliad’ a new role play lesson from Uni Bremen, Germany

Liliana Derewnicka | 10/12/13 | London

A new lesson plan to get young people thinking about ecological niches, pollination and the interrelationship between flowers and birds has been developed by the University of Bremen.

This exciting and simple lesson engages young people in applying the circle of scientific inquiry. By asking young people to role play as humming birds with different lengths of beak and to feed from a variety of differently shaped bromeliads, the lesson effectively illustrates scientific concepts and scientific process.
