Teaching about biodiversity: a lesson from the Botanic Garden of Bordeaux

Liliana Derewnicka | 03/12/13 | London

A new lesson plan to get children out of the classroom and thinking about biodiversity is now available online.

This lesson plan, entitled ‘What is biodiversity?’ contains all you need to deliver a three hour inquiry- based lesson to teach young people aged 9 to 14 about ecosystems, biodiversity and human impact, whilst illustrating scientific processes and skills.

Biodiversity and humans’ impact upon it are important issues with global implications. To ensure that the next generation has an awareness of this, the Botanic Garden of Bordeaux have developed this resource to actively engage children with these concepts through investigation, debate and discussion.

You can also down load this lesson plan and others from the resources section of the INQUIRE website.
