Kew is offering free teacher CPD on climate change, biodiversity and inquiry based education whilst developing your LotC expertise. Enjoy exploring new teaching activities and learning in the unique and exciting setting of Kew, surrounded by amazing education resources.

We are looking for 15 secondary teachers of geography and science and five botanic garden educators to join us on this FREE 60 hour Inquiry Based Science Education CPD starting on 10 October 2012 and finishing July 2013. The course is suitable for NQTs, experienced teachers and educators of all levels.

The course develops participants IBSE skills through hands on activities, enrichment lectures from experts in the field over a period of 3.5 days. After reflective practise you will develop your own onsite activity and bring a student group to put into practise what has been learnt on the course. There is also 16 hours of self study. Assessment of the course is through attendance, assignments and a final course portfolio.

Three full days and one twilight at Kew Gardens

(21 hours) October 2012, 17 January 2013, 24 April 2013

Self Study – 16 hours

Including online activities, reading and assignments

School group visit to Kew Gardens in May or June - free for class or year group. (7 hours)

Portfolio of evidence as a final assignment (13 hours)
